What’s the deal?
Masks have been enriching cultures all over the world since 7,000BC. They have been created for everything from partying at balls to intimidating the enemy. As for design, the possibilities are endless. Afsanah will teach us the how to build and paint a mask from scratch. You’ll leave with a completed mask and the know-how if you want to add some more flair in time for Mardi Gras! Come with ideas to create a mask as a home decoration, to use for Mardi Gras, or both!

Afsanah is a girl with big dreams. She has studied puppetry and puppet design since she was 18. She started making masks her first year of college and fell in love with it. Since then, she has worked as a puppeteer and theatre designer on performances and operas and has traveled the world. Her latest projects have been creating masks and working with the Houston Grand Opera for their performances of “Carmen” and “Sweeny Todd.”
